Duster Concept is Dacia’s first crossover concept car. It was presented in Geneva Motor show in march 2009.
The concept car was designed and developed in Romania, in Renaut design centre Europe (RDCE Bucharest) by international design team.
I was lucky to be involved in the project as an exterior designer.
Project was overlooked by Patrick Le Quement former head of exterior design Renaut and Patrick Lecharpy head of advance design Renault.
Key people at the project: Stephan Barral (Head of the studio), Jun Okazaki (design expert), Paul Frigout (Alias modeling), Ana Zadnik (interior design) and many more peope from design team RDCE, design team of Renaut Guyancourt and D3.
Clean and precise look was the key focus of the exterior design. Emphasise quality and robust form language was important for us, to showcase future direction of the Dacia brand.
Car is asymmetric. Driver side looks like a sporty coupe crossover with a single door, and from passengers side it is more like an MPV. It is a unique product. Sporty lifestyle and functional car at the same time.
I designed car around aerodynamic concept. Sleek, dynamic and low profile silhouette.
Functional bodyside architecture, guide the air flow around the bodyside into a flying c-post. Improving aerodynamics and give to the car fresh and modern look. Duster was my first real project, that made a big debut at the Geneva motor show in 2009.
